Erskine

Presidents New Year message 2022

Hello everyone
As President of the RSEA, it gives me huge pleasure to wish you all a happy and champion 2022
I’d like to thank everyone for the enormous support you have once again shown to our  Erskine Veterans initiative in 2021, with your continued backing of the RSEA projects.
I’ve been told that the sum raised in this most testing of years is phenomenal.
The exact figure will be released in the next week or so, once Tom and Murray have put their abacus back in the drawer.

2021 will always be remembered with extreme and mixed emotions by our fan base.Initially with the sheer joy of being crowned invincible league champions at the start of March ’21.Followed more recently, in stark contrast, with the tragic and untimely loss of the Gaffer,Walter Smith on 26th of October.
Over the decades Walter brought us so much silverware and joy.He will forever be remembered as one of ‘thee’ Ibrox legends.A man of dignity, humility and class, and a genuine Hero to us all. Our thoughts remain with Ethel, Neil & Steven and the immediate Smith family at this time.

Looking forward, lets make sure that we all make the 150th Anniversary of the World’s most successful club, a year to remember.Coupled with the 50th Anniversary of our European triumph in Barcelona. No support deserves to celebrate their club more.

Tomorrow at 4.45 pm, marks the 51st anniversary of the 1971 Ibrox disaster. At some point during the day I would ask you to take a quiet moment to remember those poor souls who lost their lives that fateful day and loved ones dear to you who passed in 2021.

The toast as always, at this time of year is  ‘ABSENT FRIENDS’

Best wishes to you all.

Gordon Smith
